Free Vintage Pink Rose Scrapbook Paper

Here are some old-timey-looking free vintage rose scrapbook papers and a coordinating stripe design that I hope you’ll enjoy using. The pink rose I used to create the designs (pictured at right) comes from Vintagerio, which has an insanely large collection of vintage roses and other flowers that I’ve featured on this site and some of the pages linked from the sidebars. By the way, if you click on the rose art to the right, you’ll find a lovely large-sized version you’re free to use.

Speaking of the the sidebars, you can see from looking at them that I’ve been playing with designing scrapbook papers for a while now. Creating them is the perfect hobby for me, since I love vintage art and clip art in general. Working on the designs has allowed me to justify spending hours looking at beautiful artwork and it’s definitely art therapy for me. I hope my therapy will benefit you as well when you make something pretty from these or my other vintage flower scrapbook papers!

By the way, these vintage roses reminded me of wallpaper I once had. In fact, a lot of paper craft designs could translate well to walls. I wonder how many scrapbook paper designers actually move ontoÂ designing wallpaper — and vice versa. The scale may be different but the principles are the same: a repeat pattern is usually involved and the colors have to be easy on the eyes. That second aspect is obviously more important with wallpaper. You can always shut a scrapbook and put it in a drawer so no one sees it. But once a paper design is applied in the form ofÂ paper designs for walls, it’s there until you go through some considerable work to take it down. No one wants to look at obnoxious walls for years on end! That puts some pressure on the artists but even more so on the homeowner. I always used to get so stressed out when picking out wallpaper designs.Â As a result nowadays I just stick to painting the walls and playing with scrapbook paper designs on my computer! There’s much less margin for error.

Free Victorian Easter Basket Craft Template

If you’re planning on entertaining family and friends this Easter holiday, that celebration can be made extra special by making your own table decorations. These mini Victorian Easter basket party favors are easy to make but will give your table an elegant Victorian feel that will look like you spent a lot. This is also a project that the kids can do with you!

There are many ways you can use your Victorian Easter baskets: Provide one box for each guest as a party favor, use as centerpieces or side-table candy dishes, or give them as gifts to either adults or children.

Just fill the boxes with Easter grass and top it with candy, just like you would regular Easter baskets. You also could put little chicks and eggs you find in the craft store on top of the grass, or set a votive candle in a glass holder in the middle of the grass. Make sure you use a glass holder, so the wax doesn’t drip onto the grass and cause a fire.

You can make the boxes either with or without paper handles or wrapped in wide ribbon for an elegant effect. If you plan to use candles, DON’T attach paper handles to the baskets, as they could catch on fire.

The box templates below are specially designed to be simple to make. Here are the easy instructions:

2. Print box onto heavy white or pastel-colored card stock.

TIP: The boxes look particularly lovely when glitter glue is used on them. To use it, apply several coats — working around the pictures so glitter doesn’t get on them — before you go to step 3. You might even want to try several layers of compatible colors of glitter glue to create a unique effect. I found that using glue with large chunks of glitter in it worked the best. Also, I’ve tried just about every brand of glitter glue on the market and have found Elmer’s 3D washable paint pens to be the best.

3. Cut around the edges of the template carefully with scissors, a craft knife or a paper cutter.

4. Fold the panels with the roses on them first, following the dotted lines. Crease the folds with a bone folder, burnisher or the side of a pen. (If you use the side of a pen, make sure to cover the creased area with a piece of paper so you don’t make any scrape marks.)

5. Fold the panels with the rabbits on them, following the instructions in number 3.

6. Pinch the corner pieces inward toward the center of the box and then crease them. Once they’re creased, put either regular glue or use a glue stick to coat the inside of the fold. If you use a glue stick, pinch the fold together for a moment to get it to stick. Or if you use regular glue, use paper clips to hold the folds in place until they dry. Once dry, these folds will help keep the box stable.

7. Glue the corner pieces to the sides to hold the box together.

8. You can make handles by cutting pieces of card stock about 1-inch wide by 10-12 inches long and gluing them in place. If you don’t want to use handles and you’re going to give the box as a gift, wrap a fancy ribbon around it and tie it in a bow. I used pale yellow see-through ribbon on boxes made with varying colors of glitter glue and the end result was very elegant.

Free Vintage Scrapbooking Paper: Victorian Scroll Work and Stripes

Although I don’t claim to be an expert on scrapbooking paper, I can pretty much guarantee you couldn’t actually find any Victorian scroll design scrapbook paper in the 1800s. So I made some myself, using Picnik, the free online graphics program.

These printable scrapbook pages in lovely soft shades of vintage pink, blue, brown and green are designed to mix and match and would be ideal for wedding scrapbooks or even as backgrounds for handmade wedding invitations or thank you cards. I personally plan to use them as components of handmade birthday cards to give to friends. They’re going to go great with Vintage Holiday Craft’s vintage flowers and roses, so I can’t wait to use them.

These are only the second set of scrapbooking papers I’ve designed — although I look forward to creating many more. The first set is a mix of contemporary and vintage-look St. Patrick’s Day scrapbook papers.

Free 4th of July Coloring Pages

Like our horse coloring pages, these 4th of July coloring pages are unusual. They were originally color vintage July fourth images that I transformed in Picnik. As a result, they don’t have the usual thick lines and white backgrounds of traditional coloring pages. But they do have something ordinary patriotic coloring pages don’t: a genuine sense of history. This would make them lovely to use for crafts, too, such as decoupage, card-making or scrapbooking. Free Victorian Easter Decorations: Table Place Cards

If you’re planning an Easter gathering, why not surprise your guests with a Victorian theme? The Victorians loved Easter, because it featured things they loved and appreciated: flowers, Springtime, animals and elegance. Some things are timeless, so it’s completely appropriate that you borrow a little of that spirit for your Easter holiday.
