Free Vintage Kids Valentine Cards

I absolutely love these colorful vintage kids Valentine cards. They come from different eras but seem to be mostly from the mid-20th century.

Some of the expressions on these cards aren’t heard much these days. An example is the sock saying “‘Darn’ it.” People still say “darn it,” of course, just not in reference to sewing up holes in their socks. I’m sure many of the crafters who visit this site will know what darning is, but how many people actually darn their socks any more? Arcane references like that are part of what makes these cards charming. Also cute is the fact that the people who created these kids valentine cards had no fear of being corny, because the designs were aimed at children. So this is your opportunity to be as corny as you want this Valentine’s Day; just blame it on the art.

Free Vintage Dog Art Christmas Cards

I think dogs used to be less popular than they are now, because it’s much easier to find vintage images of cats. But I did manage to find these nice examples of vintage dog art that span quite a few decades. My favorite is probably the one with Santa having to bribe a bulldog with a dog biscuit. It isn’t the highest quality of the bunch as far as artistic value goes. But I like the silliness of Santa having to beg a dog just to deliver his toys.

Update: Over time many people have told me how much they enjoy these dog Christmas cards, and animal holiday cards in general. I love this collection of vintage dog clip art because some of the images are pretty silly. There’s something about dogs wearing clothes and smoking while doing activities usually reserved for people that cracks me up. But if your taste runs more toward the traditional, there also are some serious dogs here, and their equally serious human companions.
